From the beginning
Eli Whitney started this company in 1793. He was from West borough, Massachusetts. After moving to Georgia, he designed the cotton gin while living on a plantation. Soon after, he patented the design and started selling cotton gins at 30 dollars, equivalent to the cost of our cotton gins today. He fought many legal battles trying to defend the patent of his gin. After losing, he went bankrupt. We now revived his gin, keeping its originality while improving it at the same time.
What is a Cotton Gin?
A cotton gin is a very basic machine used to remove seeds from cotton. This saves hours of and picking seeds from cotton. The cotton with seeds starts off by entering the cylinder. The sharp spikes on the cylinder removes the seeds from the cotton. Then, the brushes remove the now clean cotton off of the cylinder and places them in a container.
